so here’s how it all started.
today, some dude at work sent a post on the mailing list about some club where there was comedy going on. personally, i loooove comedy. and there is no official comedy club in singapore. so i quickly jumped on the occasion and headed there after work. since i didn’t have too much work, i decided to have a night off (its been a few weeks now where i’ve worked overtime every night).
so anyway, i went there at about 7-7:30… (opening hours). there wasn’t too many people but the ambiance looked good. i sat down and ordered a gin and tonic.
out of no where, the owner of the place came chat with me. i went for a smoke with him. he explained me how the place worked and how they were trying to be an “underground/indy” club and stay true to the music and environment. GREAT! thats exactly what i’ve been after! right there i knew that i found something that held promises. then when i went back inside, i started talking with the waiter who was apparently lebanese (didn’t look or sounded like one) but he was a surfer/snowboarder so right there we were in for a long chat about what kind of board/binding/boots/tricks
then the band started.... they kicked off with an interesting acoustic version of “wish you were here” (pink floyd). i though this is great.
then the people from Lucas came in. i had a chat with them, met some new interesting people (from level 6...). suddenly, some black american guy started talking in the mic. and god… this guy had a great darkish sense of humor. very funny guy. picking on people in the crowd.... looking into people’s purse when they went off for a smoke, etc. then more music. more comedy, etc.
anyway i had a great night and i’m pretty sure that i’ll be going back next week (if work allows it). now i just hope that i won’t be hung over tomorrow.
oh and btw, the place is called “the hideout”. its on 3rd floor at 31b circular road in boat quay
